When I first began my career as a field engineer over two decades ago, the energy landscape looked vastly different. The challenges we faced were significant, but our path seemed relatively straightforward. Today, the complexity of our industry is orders of magnitude greater. We are not just maintaining infrastructure; we are rebuilding it for a future defined by grid modernization, new power integration, and digital transformation. 

This journey from field engineer to CEO has helped shape a core set of values that now guide my decision making at ENTRUST Solutions Group.  

My Leadership Philosophy: Envision, Entrust, and Empower 

My leadership philosophy is built on a simple but powerful idea: hire great people, empower them to innovate, and trust them to deliver. In our business, where talent is our core offering, this isn’t just a management style—it’s our most critical business strategy. 

This belief was forged through years of leading teams through transformative change, including the integration of 17 different companies into the ENTRUST organization. Each acquisition brought new talent, new capabilities, and new perspectives. To succeed, we had to build a culture where every individual felt valued and understood how their expertise contributed to our collective mission. We cultivate this by maintaining a flat and accessible leadership structure, ensuring open lines of communication are always available. When issues arise, we focus on constructive solutions, not blame, strengthening our processes and our teams. 

Collective Excellence 

The most authentic expression of our operational strategy is that we are ‘better together.’ It reflects our commitment to breaking down barriers and fostering deep collaboration across our 40+ locations and 3,200+ professionals. True innovation doesn’t happen in isolation. It emerges when our system modeling experts work hand-in-hand with our consulting teams, and our engineers collaborate with our design specialists. 

This integrated approach allows us to deliver comprehensive solutions that address the full spectrum of our clients’ challenges—from traditional engineering to advanced analytics. By uniting our diverse specializations, we create a force multiplier effect, delivering outcomes that no single team could achieve alone. 

Expanding Our Reach Across North America 

One of the achievements I’m most proud of in our journey has been bringing our Canadian operations—Maskwa High Voltage and Kestrel Power Engineering—together under ENTRUST Solutions Group Canada, Inc., headquartered in Calgary. This unification not only reinforces our footprint in Canada but also establishes a central hub to better serve clients across North America. By aligning our capabilities and resources, we’re expanding our reach and unlocking new avenues for innovation and impactful solutions. It’s a testament to how our collaborative culture translates into meaningful results – for our clients, our teams, and the industry as a whole. 

A Commitment to Future-Ready Innovation 

I have always believed that leadership in the energy sector requires foresight into coming challenges. Early on, our team recognized digital transformation not as a trend, but as a necessity and championed the development of our internal and external analytic capabilities. It became evident that modern utilities needed more than just physical infrastructure; they required real-time intelligence and advanced analytics to optimize operations and integrate new energy sources effectively. 

Today, this forward-thinking approach is embedded in our DNA. ENTRUST stands at the forefront of utility innovation, harnessing IoT, artificial intelligence, and advanced analytics to drive smart grid evolution and infrastructure optimization. Our mission goes beyond meeting today’s demands—we’re shaping the resilient, efficient, and sustainable energy systems of the future.

True leadership goes beyond meeting corporate goals—it’s rooted in a deep commitment to the communities we serve and the people who power our organization. At ENTRUST, this ethos is reflected in our active engagement through initiatives like the Community Involvement Team and the ENE Spark Professional Women’s Group, which champions diversity and inclusion across the energy sector. Our support for organizations like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, further underscore these core values. These efforts serve as a reminder that our work touches lives and strengthens communities. 

As I look to the future, I am more confident than ever in our mission. The challenges are complex, but our team is resilient, our vision is clear, and our shared values will continue to power our transformation.
